I purchased this watercolor lesson on Enterclass by Sergei Kurbatov sometime in 2019 and I never actually went through it. I have admired Sergei’s style for a while and since I already enjoy painting loose, I was excited to finally sit down and practice using this lesson as a guide.

Starting my first page in this sketchbook for The Sketchbook Project!

I was gifted a sketchbook from The Sketchbook Project in 2019 by my good friend Jisun. I didn’t fill it out. So I decided the first personal art project I wanted to complete in 2020 would be to finally complete this sketchbook and send it back.

The Sketchbook Project is a crowdfunded sketchbook museum located in Brooklyn, New York. There are currently over 47,000 sketchbooks located in the library, which anyone can visit. How amazing is it that you can check out the books and hold other people’s art in your own hands? I hope I get to visit one day!

This below video documents the start of my sketchbook. In it, I explain the theme of my book: smile along with what I plan to (or think I’m planning to) create in it.

The photo I picked this month for the Paint With Me Challenge features reflections in a lake. I always find that when I’m painting reflections, I never quite know how it will turn out!

This was a great way for me to get some practice in! I’m excited to see what everyone else paints this month too!
