Artful August 2023

Last year, I wasn’t sure if anyone (including myself) would find it fun to create for an entire month using just a few color prompts. And I really wasn’t sure if anyone would be able to keep up with creating every single weekday. But as it turned out, it was fun. Many of us created every single weekday that month!  I decided I would bring it back and possibly make it an annual event.

For our second year, I switched up the colors but kept the same structure. Weekly prompts, creating on weekdays only, for the whole month of August using any choice of medium.

I noticed that this year I spent most of the month playing with new supplies I just opened (like watersoluble wax pastels, watercolor pigment crystals, and even toy cars. I would say the theme of my 2023 Artful August was definitely play.

Comparing this set of work to last year’s, it feels like I was much more “bold” with my colors and marks.
