Port of Honfleur Watercolor Painting

I’ve been keeping my word to myself and continuing to complete past watercolor lessons that I’ve purchased but never actually went through. This is another one from Sergei Kurbatov from Enterclass.

I previously painted his Morning In Marseille lesson and it certainly gave me the confidence to try and paint this one.

I just didn’t know I was in for quite a difficult lesson! For some reason, this one just didn’t go very well.

Admittedly, I will step back and say that my painting isn’t horrendous. I think I did an OK job, However, when you are able to see the instructor’s finished work compared against your own, it’s human nature to see how big the gap is between the two.

And when there is a gap, it means I know that I could do better and that this just wasn’t my best work! Therefore, the result I achieved falls short of my expectations for myself.

I see this as a good thing. It means that I have something to work towards!

I filmed the process (which took me over the course of 2...maybe it was even 3 days!) I talk about this in the video, but that just doesn’t work very well for me. I like to finish paintings within the day, if possible so that it feels fresh!

However, with these lessons, I wasn’t able to (a result of painting during naptimes) and I do think that was a factor in the way that I felt it turned out.
